| serious track rats on this site have hood vents and none have reported issues with overheating. Unless you're doing a lot of drafting (which I would think is frowned upon at HPDE events), you should have plenty of airflow through the engine compartment while on the track and moving. I think the challenge/concern would be what to do with heat soak between track session. The easiest solution would be to pop the hood after getting back to the pits which would allow more heat to escape the engine bay. Other proactive things you can do: - If your engine is out of the car for a rebuild, clear out flash from the engine block coolant passages (link to AutoFAQ, but dead pics). - Seal all air gaps around the radiator and front core support to direct as much air as possible into the radiator vs. bypassing it through the gaps. - Replace your OE radiator with a Koyo or Howe radiator. - If it's a track-only car, remove A/C and emissions equipment to free up airspace around the engine.
